The convent designed by Gio Ponti in 1962 on the Gianicolo was renovated to house the Roman branch of the Catholic University of America. The project recovered and enhanced the building’s original elements, such as floors, doors and furnishings, integrating them with contemporary functional spaces: residence for 80 students, canteen, classrooms, library, chapel and garden. The reorganization of the spaces, while simplifying the original distribution, respected Ponti’s design philosophy, maintaining visual connections with the outside and introducing furnishings inspired by his style, with attention to energy efficiency and modern comfort.
